The DRTC, launched in 2010, needs to foresee its governance and long-term sustainability. For that purpose, the Government of Djibouti, in collaboration with the European Union, has invited the representatives of 7 neighborhood countries and 2 partner countries to discuss the governance options, based on similar examples in the training world.
The invited countries were Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen, plus Japan and France as major contributors. Given the urgent need to handover the overall responsibility to the region, a set of recommendations has been elaborated for facilitating the decision process during an appropriate high-level meeting to be held in the coming months.
